Summary:
From PublicationsDivision.nic.in: "This book describes Gandhiji's first Satyagraha struggle on Indian soil in 1917 on his return from South Africa. The scene is the district of Champaran in North Bihar, where Gandhiji throws himself heart and soul to remove by non-violent means the grievances and sufferings of the peasants at the hands of the indigo planters. This Satyagraha laid the foundation for Gandhiji to take on the mighty British later on. The author D.G. Tendulkar is the well-known author of 'Mahatma', a comprehensive biography of Gandhiji in eight volumes."
